The Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation recently announced several service awards at the Clifty Creek Plant.
Elizabeth A. Lee, materials and supplies supervisor, received an anniversary award for 35 years of service with the company. Lee joined the company on Dec. 28, 1977, as a laborer in the Labor Department. In 1990 she transferred to the Stores Department, where she has served as materials and supplies supervisor since 2011. Lee resides in Madison.
Roy Carter, a shift operating engineer, received an anniversary award for 35 years of service with the company. Carter joined the company on Jan. 4, 1978, as a laborer in the Labor Department. During that same year, he became a member of the Operations Department. He has served as a shift operating engineer since 2008. Carter and his wife, Tracey, reside in Lexington.
Nancy Garrett, an operating supervisor, received an anniversary award for 35 years of service with the company. Garrett joined the company Jan. 6, 1978, as a laborer in the Labor Department. Later that same year, she transferred to the Operations Department, where she has served as an operating supervisor since 2011. Garrett and her husband, Robert, reside in Milton, Ky.
Adam Craig, coal yard superintendent, received an anniversary award for 35 years of service with the company. Craig joined the company on Jan. 9, 1978, as a laborer in the Labor Department. In 1979, he transferred to the Yard Department, where he has served as yard superintendent since 2000. Craig resides in Madison.
Dennis Bickers recently received his Indiana auctioneer's license. Bickers is the former pastor of Hebron Baptist Church. He currently serves on the staff of the American Baptist Churches of Indiana and Kentucky. He completed studies at the Indiana College of Auctioneers and sat for the state exam in January. He is opening Bickers Auction Service. He and his wife, Faye, reside in Madison.
The Attic and Coffee Mill Cafe was among 15 bakeries and restaurants featured on the Indiana Foodways Alliance's Hoosier Pie Trail in recognition of National Pie Day, which was Jan. 23. The Attic's signature pie - Dutch apple with caramel icing is highlighted.
The Hoosier Pie Trail features sugar cream pie (the Indiana State Pie), strawberry, and the all-American classic apple pie and many other varieties.

If you own a mobile home that is your primary residence on a rented lot, a homestead exemption will lower your tax bill. This homestead exemption needs to be filled out by March 1 each year. Go to the Auditor's Office in the Courthouse from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
