The King's Daughters' Health Diabetes Care Center will host a free Diabetes Awareness event for the public on Nov. 7.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Oak Rooms of the King's Daughters' Health Conference Center on the basement level of the hilltop hospital. Diabetes patients, their family or friends, or anyone wanting to learn more about diabetes is encouraged to attend the event.
The Diabetes Awareness event will feature national speaker Amy Hayes, who will share her personal journey with diabetes called "Taking Control." As part of the presentation, Hayes will cover achieving good glucose control, learning about effective self-management, developing a balanced lifestyle, planning and prioritizing diabetes management, overcoming fears associated with diabetes and finding other diabetes resources and support.
Diabetes patients in attendance to the event will receive a free booklet to help with diabetes.
