Officials with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers announced that union employees voted Friday to approve a contract with Grote Industries.

In a text message update, union officials said the contract was approved with 114 workers voting yes, and 36 voting no.

The contract approval came less than a week after discussions on social media suggested union employees working at the facility had voted to strike. An update Tuesday asked employees to work their regular shifts while union representatives continued negotiations with Grote Industries during an eight-day contract extension.

Indiana IAW Local 153 includes more than 150 members who work to manufacture LED lights and lighting products for heavy-duty trucks, trailers, vocational and passenger vehicles in Madison.

Details of the agreement were not released.

Union members and the company reached a three-year agreement in November 2013, but that agreement expired last November.
