Trail Conservancy names board officers
Saturday, February 02, 2013 4:00 AM
The Heritage Trail Conservancy recently elected its board officers to three- year terms.
Dick McCracken will serve as chairman and secretary and Jim Olson will serve as treasurer. Other board members include Ben Canida, Mike Broyles, Ryan Myers and Gary Valen. Bob Greene continues as president and executive director, now reporting to the board.
The Heritage Trail Conservancy is a a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, that owns Heritage Park in Madison. In 2012, the organization acquired 20 acres of riverfront property intersected by the Heritage Trail.
The recently acquired park properties were made possible by a combination of gifts from the Madison business community, the Madison Jefferson County Community Foundation and private donors. The most recent acquisition was also supported by a $75,000 matching grant from the State of Indiana's Bicentennial Nature Trust.
The organization's 20 acres are set aside as a permanent nature conservation easement.
