The Derby Dinner Playhouse has dinner and lunch reservations available for those interested in dining with a vocally talented, yet highly irritable carnivorous plant.
The Clarksville theater will host "Little Shop Horrors," the off-Broadway cult classic comedy packed with 1960s R&B, doo-wop and rock n' roll tunes.
The show will run from Feb. 19 to March 30.
"Most people can relate to the 1980's movie version," said marketing director Annie Myers, referring to the film that featured comedians Steve Martin and Rick Moranis.
The play follows a down-and-out floral assistant who discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. The ill-tempered singing carnivorous plant then offers fame and fortune in exchange for satisfying its growing appetite.
The production is set on Skid Row in the 1960s, and includes tunes such as "Grow For Me," "Somewhere That's Green," "Suddenly, Seymour," "Skid Row (Downtown)" and many others.
The play is under the direction of Lee Buckholz, with choreography by Heather Paige Folsom and musical direction by Scott Bradley. The show includes a cast of 12.
Before each performance, a buffet will be offered. The auditorium holds up to 500 people, and the stage is located in the center of the room.
"It's a weird, kind of-intimate setting," Myers said.
Tickets are $40 for performances on Sunday through Thursday, $41 on Fridays and $44 on Saturdays. Derby Dinner will hold matinees for each Wednesday (with the exception of Feb. 20) and Sunday for $36.
