Sara King as Mary Poppins and Jordan Cyphert as Bert
The stage of the Derby Dinner Playhouse will be filled with chimney sweeps, shop keepers and a magical English nanny this month as the southern Indiana theater presents Mary Poppins.
The play, based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, is a musical that includes a score filled with many of the songs that helped turn the movie into an instant favorite.
Songs include "Feed the Birds," "Jolly Holiday," "Step in Time" and the Academy Award-winning "Chim-Chim Cher-ee."
The family-friendly musical will continue through Aug. 16. Tickets range from $37 for Sunday matinees to $45 for Saturday night shows.
On Aug. 19 the theater will premier "A Mighty Fortress is our Basement."
The musical comedy from the Church Basement Ladies is set in 1960 during the reformation. The show features new high heals and new drivers licenses.
The show features new songs and more lessons reluctantly learned. The show will run through Oct. 5.
