Two Louisville authors plan to host book signings in Madison on Saturday to celebrate their recently released books.
Andrew Toy and L. Andrew Cooper will be available to discuss their books from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. while at That Book Place, 337 Clifty Drive. Both authors released their newest works in November.
Toy's thriller and suspense novel, "The Man In The Box," follows the life of Robbie Lake who is unexpectedly fired from his job, which served as an escape from his family, a release said. Facing unemployment, Lake finds a new escape through a cardboard box that takes him to the imaginary world of his childhood. Yet his safe childhood escape has turned into a savage and hostile environment during his absence.
Toy enjoys reading books about as much as he does writing them, a release said, and he is always on the lookout for his next best story idea. Some of his work and information on his upcoming books are available online at adoptingjames.wordpress.com
Cooper's debut novel, "Burning the Middle Ground," highlights a tale of religious conspiracy and supernatural mind control.
The dark fantasy novel follows a boy throughout the years following his parents' murder by his sister, a release said. Five years after the tragedy, a journalist finds the main character living in the same home where his parents were killed while other mysterious happenings begin to occur in the town.
Even though the author hasn't always enjoyed horror, fantasy and science-fiction and at one time was even frightened by them, Cooper began reading horror novels in third grade, a release said. Cooper went on to earn an undergraduate degree in English literature from Harvard University and a doctorate in English from Princeton, where he wrote his dissertation on the horror genre. Cooper's dissertation became the basis of his first book, "Gothic Realities." He also wrote "Dario Argento" and co-edited the textbook "Monsters" this year.
He currently teaches at the University of Louisville and serves as chair of the Louisville Film Society board. For more information on his writings visit http://landrewcopper.com.
Both books featured during the book signing on Saturday were recently published through BlackWyrm Publishing. Frank Hall, owner of That Book Place, said both books will be available for purchase during the book signing.
