Derby Dinner presents holiday productions

A classic holiday musical will make a return to the Derby Dinner Playhouse stage throughout December.
Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" takes place during the World War II era. The production follows a couple of GIs turned song-and-dance men who pair up with a sister act to produce a Christmas Eve show to save a Vermont lodge owned by a former commanding officer. The results are several dance numbers and classic holiday tunes that take audiences back in the day to simpler days and a time where snow was on many Christmas wish lists, a Derby Dinner Playhouse release said.
"White Christmas" will be performed through Dec. 31.
The musical production is based on the 1954 film starring Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby. The play includes 17 songs by Irving Berlin, including "Happy Holidays," "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" and "White Christmas."
This is the last scheduled Derby Dinner Playhouse season production of the year.
Cast members for the musical include Brian Bowman, Matthew Brennan, Sarah Koster, Julie Evins, David Myers, Carol Williams, Cary Wiger, Kevin Crain, Kiersten Vorheis, Chris Bryant, Sandra Rivera, Sara King and Carolyn Dodd. Lee Buckholz is the director, with choreography by Heather Paige Folsom. Musical direction is by Scott Bradley.
Doors for "White Christmas" will open for evening performances at 6 p.m. with a buffet served from 6 to 7:10 p.m. The show will begin at 7:15 p.m. throughout the week. Tickets for the shows on Sunday evening through Thursday evening are $40 per person. Tickets for Friday shows are $41, and Saturday evening shows cost $44.
Matinees on Wednesday and Sunday begin with doors opening at 11:45 a.m. A buffet will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the show will begin around 1 p.m. Tickets for the Sunday matinees cost $36, and the Wednesday matinee tickets cost $35.

Derby Dinner Playhouse also continues the Children's Musical Theatre season with a performance of "A Fairy Tale Christmas" on Saturdays throughout November and December.
The production gives a glimpse into the land of Happily Ever After during the holiday season as princes, princesses and fairy tale creatures get ready for the Crystal Christmas Ball. The show features appearances by Cinderella, Snow White, Goldilocks, Prince Charming and more. Musical numbers will include "Happily Ever After," "Good Things Come in Threes," "The Magic of Love," and more.
"A Fairy Tale Christmas" was written by Matt and Tina Jo Wallace for the Derby Dinner stage. The production cast includes Lauren McCombs, Megan Bliss, Jamie Lynn Sutton, Eric Hoffman, Scott Anthony, Peter Ripple and Bill Hanna. Matt Wallace is the director. Music for the show was composed by Scott Bradley, Derby Dinner Playhouse's musical director.
Shows of "A Fairy Tale Christmas" are on Saturday with breakfast and lunch performances. A breakfast buffet is served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., with the performance beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets are $16 for children and adults. Each performance lasts about one hour.
The lunch performance begins with a lunch buffet from noon until 1 p.m., with a performance at 1:15 p.m. Tickets for the lunch show are $21 for children and adults.
Two other plays will be featured next year during the Children's Musical Theatre season. "A Year with Frog and Toad" will be on stage from Feb. 23 to March 30 and "Awesome Allie: First Kid Astronaut" will be performed May 25 to June 29.
