Discover downtown Vevay with First Friday game

Vevay will host its monthly First Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m., with festivities including late-night shopping and dining, specials, live entertainment and free carriage rides around downtown Vevay.
September's theme is "14 Miles to Vevay," in honor of the tune written by long-time resident Tim Shackleford. The song was recorded by Jack Reno, a country music singer and radio personality. Reno performed with legends such as Waylon Jennings and Dolly Parton, recording seven albums and notching 12 hits on the American Country Music charts.
The event will include the "Lucky 14 Downtown Discovery Game," which encourages visitors to discover downtown Vevay businesses. Participants will collect envelopes from more than 10 downtown businesses. The sealed envelopes each contain a number from 2-9 and a business' name. A list of locations will be available at the visitor center and participating businesses by 6 p.m. Friday.
Unopened envelopes should be returned to the visitors center, 128 W. Main St. before 8:30 p.m. Participants must select which and how many of their envelopes they want opened. Tourism staff will open the envelopes in front of contestants to reveal the numbers on the cards in anticipation that they will add up to 14, or as close to 14 as possible without going over. The winner will receive a Bicentennial t-shirt and medallion of the Historic Switzerland County Courthouse. In case of a tie, winners will be chosen by a drawing, before the close of the event at 9 p.m.
In addition, the visitors center will offer mustache face painting from 6-7 p.m. Bicentennial items will be on display including t-shirts, tote bags, coloring books, a limited edition bronze medal designed by Switzerland County artist Donna Weaver, a collector basket with a lid designed by Erin Williams, and many more items.
Live entertainment during the event will feature regional artists, Greg Ziesemer & Kriss Luckett, Patchwork, David Dwyer and Mark Louden.
Vevay Main Street's First Friday is held monthly rain or shine and features late night shopping, dining, specials, live entertainment and free carriage rides around downtown Vevay.
