Fair fun continues in Switzerland Co.

Chelsea Duvall was crowned 2014 Miss Switzerland County on June 29. Her court includes first runner-up Robin Furnish, second runner-up Jaclyn Hart and Miss Congeniality Macy Barwick.
Duvall is the daughter of Shonda and Tony Rose, and Tim and Toni Young. She will be a junior this fall at Purdue University.
She was a 10-year Switzerland County 4-H member and works as a summer program assistant for the Switzerland County 4-H program.
Robin Furnish is the daughter of Rob and Cheryl Furnish. Macy Barwick is the daughter of Bryan and Carrie Barwick
Grandstand events, 4-H projects and open class exhibits will be on display during the 2014 Switzerland County Fair, which opens Saturday.
Activities begin with 4-H animal shows, commercial building displays and other exhibits. The fair will feature several grandstand events while also adding a few new events this year.
A demolition derby kicks off the grandstand event line-up at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10.
The annual Greased Pig Contest will be Monday. Several age groups - including pre-kindergarten to kindergarten, grades 1 to 3, grades 4 to 6, grades 7 and 8, and grades 9 through 12, as well as an open class for anyone out of school and a team category - will attempt to pin the pork in the grandstand area.
Anyone attempting to catch the pig must pay an entry fee of $5. Admission to the event is $1.
A cornhole tournament will be held Tuesday. Team entry fees are $30.
ATV and UTV drag races will be on Wednesday night and truck drag races will be Thursday. Admission is $5 for each event.
A sanctioned Truck and Tractor Pull, sponsored by Switzerland County Tourism, will be featured on Friday. Admission is $10.
A Mud Run on Saturday will close out the grandstand events. Admission is $10.
Pit passes for all of the grandstand events are $15.
Children ages 5 and under are admitted free to grandstand events, unless they will be in the pit area. Admission for children in the pit area will be the same as adults.
Registration for participation in each of the grandstand events begins at 5 p.m.
Fair buildings will open Monday, a few days after the "official" start of the fair.
The 4-H Exhibit Hall will open Monday through Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and open on July 19 from 2 to 6:30 p.m.
The Commercial Building will be open Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. The building will open from noon to 9 p.m. on July 19.
The Homemaker's Open Class Exhibits may be entered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 17. Judging will begin at 1 p.m.
The exhibit hall will open to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
The exhibits will also be on display from 5 to 9 p.m. on July 18 and noon to 9 p.m. on July 19.
The 2014 4-H Awards Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15.
There is no main gate entry fee for the Switzerland County Fair this year, and there is no charge for parking.
