Thursday, August 07, 2014 11:00 AM
An artist who uses her talents to help others create art and heal through the creative form has been chosen as the featured artist at Art on Main.
Wanda Jackson is the featured artist for August 2014. Her work will be on display near the front of the gallery on Main Street through the end of the month.
Jackson, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, shows her appreciation of the area's beauty in her works. Several of her paintings are of outdoor locations from the Jefferson County area.
She also uses art to help others heal through recreational therapy. During her 40-year career, Jackson has used drawing, painting, interior design, ceramics, fiber art and more to help her clients.
A public reception will be held on Friday, Aug. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. for people to meet the artist.
The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed Wednesdays, except by appointment.
Also during August, the Madison Art Club will be accepting entries for the 16th annual Regional Fall Art Show. Club members and the general public may enter.

Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded for the entries into the show.
