Kentucky charity offers cash awards
Saturday, October 05, 2013 5:00 AM
The youth of Carroll, Trimble, Gallatin, Henry and Owen counties may earn cash awards for service projects during "Make a Difference Day" on Oct. 26.
Ohio Valley United Charities, Inc., offers up to $3,000 in cash awards for projects completed in communities on the national day for community service. Millions of volunteers from around the world come together to improve lives of others in their community by completing local projects on that day, a Ohio Valley United Charities release said.
To register a project in the competition, individuals up to age 21 - or groups or organizations of youth up to age 21 - should send a letter to Ohio Valley United Charities to explain their project in detail, the location where the project will take place and the number of people who will benefit by the project.
The name, telephone number and email address of the person responsible for the project should be included, the release said.
Registration letters must be received by noon of Oct. 19 to be eligible for the award. Letters may be mailed to Ohio Valley United Charities, P.O. Box 528, Carrollton, Ky., 41008, faxed to (502) 732-6688 or delivered to the office at 523 Highland Ave. in Carrollton.
