Two area bands plan to entertain audiences young and old during August's Music in the Park on Friday.

The Slick River Rockets will perform at the Broadway Fountain with opening act Barefoot Best Friends. The event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m., and admission is free.

The Slick River Rockets plays rockabilly hits as well as folk and other alternative country songs.

The group includes Brook Reindollar, Chip Binzer, Eric Phagan and Sean Dawkins.

The Barefoot Best Friends began as a group of friends playing together during a farmers' market event in LaGrange, Ky. Although many of the band's members have grown up and moved on, two members carry on the barefoot tradition of playing Celtic, bluegrass and folk music throughout the area.

Emmaly Saliga plays fiddle, guitar, flat-footer and is a singer-songwriter. Christina Saliga play banjo, guitar, piano, flat-footer and is also a singer-songwriter. Their father, Mark, plays percussion for the group.

In addition to the live music, the Music in the Park event will also feature an arts and crafts market, face painting, balloons and hot food vendors from 5 to 9 p.m.

The final Music in the Park concert for the year will be held in September.
