Zombies have infected the Madison Community Players.

To kick off its new season, the local theater group is performing "Zombies from The Beyond - A Musical" Friday through Sunday at 125 East Main St.

The musical, according to a press release examines American ideals and foibles during the Eisenhower era. It is patterned after space paranoia films that were popular during the 1950's.

The play takes place in the Milwaukee Space Center as a new rocket scientist, Trenton Corbett, arrives in the Probe 7 control room when the scientists discover a flying saucer piloted by a "buxom alien dominatrix" named Zombina.

The musical will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $10 or $8 with a student identification.

Cast members include: Casey Bloos as Sepulchral Voice, Jack D. Clevenger as Major Malone, Drew Geertz as Rick Jones and the voice of Dee-Jay, Lindsay Obendorf as Charlene "Charlie" Osmanski, Dakota Phillips as Billy Krutzik, Jenny Collins as Mary Malone, Chris Wheeler as Trenton Corbett, Nichole Elam as the voice of Doreen Mundt and the Zombettes and Kelley Hoagland as Zombina.

The play is directed by Kristin J. Clevenger.

The organization's 2013-2014 season will continue Dec. 5, 6 and 7 with the Christmas comedy "Dashing Through the Snow," by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten.
