Switzerland Co. artists featured on weekend tour

The quilts of Diana Barry will be among the artwork on display during the tour.
The public is invited to browse Switzerland County galleries, artist studios and local businesses during the new "Artisans Tour of Switzerland County" Saturday and Sunday.
Twenty artists representing various mediums will have their work on display and will hold demonstrations throughout the event.
A map of artisan locations is available at the Switzerland County Visitors Center at 128 West Main Street, the Community Art Center at the corner of Ferry and Main in downtown Vevay and at participating artist studios. Maps can be emailed by request by calling (812) 427-3237 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no admission charge, but artists will have items available for sale.
"Switzerland County is home to a wide variety of gifted artisans," said Kendal Miller, director of Switzerland County Tourism whose organization is sponsoring the event. "The creativity and talent of these artists are very impressive."
A least one artist is based out of another county but is appearing as a guest of a Switzerland County artist.
A sneak peak of participating artists' works will be displayed at the Community Art Center located at the corner of Ferry and Main Street during the Vevay's First Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. The event theme is "Lemonade Day" and will including late-night shopping, dining, live entertainment and free carraige rides.
During First Friday, several artists also will be on hand to discuss their work and disclose their location along the tour. Light refreshments will be served.
Participants include: Donna Weaver, an Indiana Artisan who specializes in wax portrait miniatures; Melodee Stepleton, weaving and dyeing; Rosemary Butterbaugh, monotype and watercolor; Ann Farnsley, painting and ceramics; Joyce Benbow, mix media and assemblage; Ken Benbow, yard art; Tony Catanzaro, metal sculpture; Diana Barry, quilts; Paula Bowling, primitives; Mary Brown, stained glass; Ted Brown, metal sculpture; Mike Danner, oil paintings; Meredith Luhrs, painting and drawings; Sarah Headen, paintings, prints and cards; Dick Yanikoski, woodworking; Brian Christman, chainsaw carving; Martha Bladen, mixed media and artful re-use; Marty McGraw, polymer jewelry; Jay Benzing, watercolors; and Gary Chapman, wood turnings.
Artists' locations will be marked with yellow "Art Tour" signs and flags across the county.
