The presentation is part of the company's annual summer theater workshop available for third-graders through seniors in high school. The two-week workshop started June 10 and continues through tomorrow. The class met from 9 a.m. to noon each weekday.
The workshop gives new students the opportunity to learn what is involved in putting on a staged musical, while more advanced students were tasked with honing their on-stage abilities.
The play is a condensed 30-minute stage adaptation of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl. Willy Wonka stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy.
The play features several songs from the 1971 film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."
The creative team for the 2013 Summer Theatre Workshop includes Candee Burns as the Director, assisted by Lindsay Bullock, Shonica Hartless, Laura Ratcliff, Abby Walburn, Melanie Torline and Shari Vaughn. Jill Mires handled the choreography.
Tickets are available now at the Ohio Theatre or on our website www.lgtc.org.
The cast includes: Claire Lostutter as Willy Wonka; Robert Stark as Candy Man; Ethan Mack as Charlie Bucket; Rachel Fisher as Mrs. Bucket; Jake Taylor as Mr. Bucket; Anne Marie Grady as Grandma Josephina; Sydney Randall as Grandma Georgina; Emory Fisher as Grandpa George; Ben Ratcliff as Grandpa Joe; Gage Love as James; Mia Mires as Matilda; Abigail McCollum as Susie; Charity Green as Rebecca; Andrew Eigel as Phineous Trout; Xander Burns as Augustus Gloop; Claire Wilber as Mrs. Gloop; Ansley Crutchfield as Veruca Salt; Connor Stevely as Mr. Salt; Zoe Bullock as Violet Beauregarde; Taylor Williams as Mrs. Beauregarde; Will Ratcliff as Mike Teavee; Chloe Turner as Ms. Teavee; Caitlin Epperson as Oompaloompa 1; Rachel Hoffman as Oompaloompa 2; Charlie Vaughn as Oompaloompa 3; Colton Auxier and Gracie Loos as Oompaloompas; and Jessie Stuart, Jocelyn Smith, Katie Jacobs and Andi White as Squirrels.
