Township trustees in Indiana are elected to four-year terms and serve as the township executive.
A chief function of the trustee is to maintain township records, receive and pay out township funds and administer township assistance to residents.
The trustee must keep written record of official proceedings and file annual reports and yearly budget requests. Along with the trustee, the voters also elect the township advisory boards, each of which have three members.
