You can see the new Madison-Milton Bridge in the making from several vantage points in downtown Madison. And now one of those spots is located inside the gallery of Art on Main.

As part of its "Paint the Bridge" exhibit, the gallery is featuring several artworks depicting the new and old bridge. The works will be on display for the entire month of July in celebration of the new bridge opening scheduled later this summer.

The gallery has had submissions from about 30 different contributors. Some contributors have multiple pieces on display. Students from area schools also have artwork on display in the window front and in other downtown shops.

The submissions include drawings, paintings and photographic works. The pieces will not be judged, but most are for sale. Kevin and Margo Watkins also will submit their aluminum bridge model, which is about eight-feet long and more than two feet tall.

The pieces are located in the front portion of the store, which is run entirely by volunteers of the Madison Art Club and located at 309 W. Main St.

The gallery will host a reception for the "Paint the Bridge" project on July 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Gallery hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. It is closed on Wednesday. For more information visit www.madisonartclub.com or call (812) 265-2923.
