Grammy award-winning artist Crystal Gayle will perform at Belterra Casino on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.
Gayle, sister of country music star Loretta Lynn, will perform in the Centerstage Showroom, which can seat up to 1,500 people. General admission tickets, which are $30, can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com.
Though she was a graduate of Wabash (Ind.) High School, Gayle was born in the coal-mining town of Paintsville, Ky.
Her career began in the 1970s, and since then, she has compiled 20 No. 1 hits, including classics like "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue." The song was recognized by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers in 1999 as one of 10 most performed songs of the 20th Century. It also earned Gayle a Grammy for "Best Female Vocal Performance" in 1978.
According to Gayle's website, while still in high school, she signed her first recording contact. Her debut single, "I've Cried The Blue Right Out Of My Eyes," was written by Lynn, who was already a star. The song reached the Top 20 on the national country music charts.
Three more singles were released over the next three years - all making an impact with radio and listeners, the website said.
Gayle was inducted in the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She now lives in Nashville with her husband, Bill Gatzimos. She has two children, Catherine and Chris.
