The Southwestern High School Drama Club cooks up some fun this weekend with a dinner theater murder mystery.

At 7 p.m. Friday, in the high school cafeteria the club will present “Death By Dessert.”

A spaghetti dinner will be served during intermission by the play’s actors.

“Death By Dessert,” written by Nathan Hartswick, takes place in New York City’s Little Italy where the Donnaducce and Duccedonni families have been at war for decades.

Each family runs a competing restaurant and happen to share a wall and a landlord. When the landlord is murdered, it’s anyone’s guess who might have done it.

Audience members will be invited to vote for the character they think is behind the deed before the murderer is revealed during the fast-paced second act.

Director Nikki Hollis said that while the club usually produces a children’s show each year, students asked if they could do something a little more grown-up. A comedic mystery with a built-in dinner aspect seemed like the perfect choice, she said.

Cast and crew include: Elizabeth Moreland, Brinna Miller, Coragen Stevens, Gabe Smith, Kyle Dishon, Jonathan Hooker, Elijah Carroll, Samantha Reed, Julianna Bell, Jasmine Johnson, Jolina Bell and Jaslynn Skinner.

Tickets for Friday night’s 90-minute dinner and a show are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets should be reserved by today, though payment can be made the night of the show.
