A musical that explores the complex lives of teenagers is coming to Switzerland County.
Due to the weather, the play has been rescheduled for Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. and Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. For more information call (812) 427-2311.
"Dead Serious About Life" is a play performed by a group of students involved in Mishpachah Inc., a non-profit Christian organization based out of Mason, Ohio.
The play will be performed in the cafeteria of Switzerland County High School on Saturday and again on Sunday afternoon. The Saturday performance will be at 6 p.m.; with a 3 p.m. Sunday matinee.
Tickets for the performance are $8 in advance, and can be ordered by calling toll free (800) 459-7268. If there are any tickets remaining, the price at the door is $9, but both shows are expected to sell out quickly.
Mishpachah currently has 36 performing teens, representing 18 different high schools and 22 different churches in the Cincinnati area.
The play deals with a teenage suicide, as well as drug addiction, sex, bullying, cutting, alcohol abuse, self-esteem and teen pregnancy.
For more than 24 years, Mishpachah has been performing the musical in high schools, churches and youth conventions. Last year, the group performed to more than 10,000 teenagers and counseled more than 1,000 kids following our concerts.
The production crew works to address real issues effecting today's youth. The group includes facts about the issues they cover in their plays - including suicide among youth. There are more than 4,100 teen suicides each year and the suicide rate is increasing for students between the ages of 10 and 14.
The performance is being brought to Switzerland County as a combined effort by local churches of all denominations.
