Switzerland County's Swiss Idol singing competition organizers are seeking participants for auditions, which will be held later this month.
The 2014 Swiss Idol auditions will take place at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Historic Hoosier Theater in Vevay, but participants must sign up for their chance to take home the top prize. Singers may sign up for the auditions at the Switzerland County Visitors' Center, 128 W. Main St., until Thursday, Feb. 20.
Organizers ask singers to stop by the visitors' center to fill out the audition forms, Hoosier Theater President Stephanie Adams said in a release. Singers aren't limited to Switzerland County residents, and anyone may enter the contest.
Audition participants will meet for the instructions at the theater at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 21.
Two songs should be prepared for the auditions, the release said, and all auditions are without accompaniment.
Previous first-place winners are not eligible for the 2014 Swiss Idol competition.
Finalists chosen by the judges will be notified by Monday, Feb. 24.
Those finalists would need to be able to attend a finalist briefing at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 8 to be eligible for the final competition, the release said.
The 2014 Swiss Idol competition finals will be held at 7 p.m. on March 8 at the Historic Hoosier Theater. Three rounds of performances will be held to determine the first-, second- and third-place winners.
The first-place prize is $500 with a second-place prize of $250. The third-place winner will receive a $100 prize.
