Scenes from around the area highlight a exhibition of work on display at Art on Main by this month's featured artist Belva Lowry.
Lowry's inspiration for art began in her home state of Michigan years ago while she was surrounded by her mother's creativity.
After raising three children and retiring from a career in the medical field, Lowry began to devote more time to her artistic works and immersed herself in painting.
Lowry now lives in Madison. She draws inspiration from the locations around her and often paints scenes from historic architecture in the downtown Madison and popular landmarks in Jefferson County.
A collection of Lowry's oil paintings will be on display at the Art on Main gallery, 209 W. Main St., until June 30.
The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The gallery stays open until 8 p.m. during the Madison "Fourth Friday" event each month.
The Art on Main gallery and gift shop also features other original paintings, drawings and other unique pieces created by members of the Madison Art Club.
