A new year means a new round of festivals for area residents. An array of festivals run throughout the year and draw anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand guests.

RiverRoots Music & Folk Art Festival
May 16-17, 2014
The riverfront festival includes performances from a variety of folk, Americana and rock artists, as well as food, art and storytelling. The events run 5:30 to 11 p.m. on May 16 and noon to 11 p.m. on May 17. Admission is charged, though costs have not been released yet. Spring Old Court Days

This three-day event includes arts and crafts, collectibles, antiques and food booths around the Jefferson County Courthouse. The event, sponsored by the Madison Pilot Club, is free to the public. For more information call (812) 273-6226.
Carroll County Fair
June 3-14, 2014

The fourth annual Race Fest is located in downtown Carrollton and sponsored by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. The event features races around the courthouse square, race car simulators, food vendors, a car and motorcycle show, live music and more. Regatta Festival week offers a variety of annual events, including the Regatta Parade, which features local organizations, law enforcement, and hydroplane drivers The week culminates in the Indiana Governor's Cup hydroplane race.
In addition to the races, the Regatta festivities include vintage boats, an air show, fireworks, musical entertainment and food. Admission is charged, though this year's prices have not been released yet. The Regatta office can be reached at (812) 274-0400 or at www.madisonregatta.com.
Jefferson County Fair
The Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds plays host to mud runs, tractor pulls, live music, carnival rides, midway booths, 4-H projects and vendors for a week of family fun. For more information call (812) 265-8919.
Switzerland County Fair
Grandstand events, rides, 4-H animal projects and midway booths return to the Switzerland County Fairgrounds for the annual fair. An exhibit hall of 4-H projects and a commercial building are also open during the week. For more information call (812) 427-3152.
August 15-16, 2014
The two-day, riverfront event combines barbeque, blues and family activities. Events include Madison's annual Kansas City Barbecue Society competition - the professional contest that draws cookers from across the country - as well as amateur and children cooking competitions.
The festival will have music throughout the day on Friday and Saturday, though acts and headliners have not been announced.
Other events include a play area for children, a river cruise, the annual Ribberfest 5K run/walk and Pigmania - a competition in which area businesses decorate ceramic pigs that are displayed on the riverfront and then judged. For more information, visit www.madisonribberfest.com.
Swiss Wine Festival

The biggest festival in Switzerland County is the Swiss Wine Festival, which features a wide array of entertainment and family-orientated activities, including the popular wine pavilion, arts and crafts, river cruises, a 5K run/walk, cornhole tournament, cheerleading competitions and live entertainment.

Neavill's Grove Old Settlers Meeting
August 29-31, 2014
The 129th annual community reunion features antique farm machinery, arts, crafts, food, game and contest. The event is free. The meeting area is on Deputy Pike, about six miles northwest of Madison.
Jammin' In the Hills

The free event, Indiana's oldest community reunion, is held at the Saluda Township Park, off State Road 62. The event includes music, food and family activities. Organizers can be reached at (812) 889-2726.
BBQ and Blues
September 6-7, 2014
Located in Carrollton Point Park along the riverbanks of the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers. Patrons are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to come and enjoy barbeque and blues music.
Anyone interested in competing in the annual barbeque competition or wanting to judge the event should submit a completed application on the Carroll County tourism website.
There will be live music from local musicians and other entertainment.

Canaan Fall Festival
September 12-13, 2014
The annual festival's signature event is the Pony Express mail run, which includes a special postmark. Trimble County Apple Festival
September 13-14, 2014
The annual festival will include the Miss Apple Festival Little Miss & Mr. Pageant and Sweetheart & Princess Pageant, vendors and musical acts throughout the weekend.
Patrons can also sign up for the Apple Pie Contest on Saturday. Judging will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, located on the courthouse square in Bedford, Ky.

Sleepy Hollow Festival
