It's Christmas time, and that means illuminating attractions, children's actives and loads of holiday spirit inside and outside Louisville's Galt House Hotel.
The KaLightoscope Christmas is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Adult ticket prices are $18.99 (Friday-Sunday) and $14.99 (Monday-Thursday)
The hotel is known for its all-out festive decorations, and the annual KaLightoscope exhibit is a reflection of just that, featuring animated characters, light display and life-sized gingerbread house.
The tour began Nov. 16 and will run until Jan. 1.
The lights tour includes a Christmas Village featuring the Snow Fairy Castle, Candy Cane Forest with the Peppermint Express Kiddie Train, Ernie the Engineer, and Santa Claus.
For the third consecutive year, Christmas at the Galt House Hotel has been named the Top 100 Event in North America by American Bus Association.
The festivities for the event have grown every year. This year, Sing 'n' Joy International Choral Festival and Competition joined the activities with three events over the Thanksgiving weekend. In addition, there is a new green screen experience that families can download and share through social media.
Ernie the Engineer will take children through the light tour and Candy Cane Forest on the Peppermint Express Kiddie Train Ride. He also hosts a lunch for children on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Sunday, the hotel also will host its final Christmas Tea with the Snow Fairy Princess from 2 to 3 p.m. During the event, children can enjoy pastries, cookies, winter tea or juice. They also can take a tour of KaLightoscope with the Snow Fairy Princess as their special guide.
