EVENTS

President Honors the Arts: Hanover College President Lake Lambert will honor the arts at 7:30 p.m. April 13 in Fitzgibbon Recital Hall in the Center for Fine Arts with a 90-minute stage show featuring student performers in theater, music, visual arts and creative writing.

Frisch Marionettes: Vevay’s Historic Hoosier Theater will host the Cincinnati-based puppet company at 7 p.m. April 14. Tickets for the show are $5. For advanced tickets, or more information, call (812) 427-3237.

Spring into the Valley: The Indiana Wine Trail will kick off spring with its annual event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 15 at Ertel Cellars Winery, Lanthier Winery, Madison Vineyards Estate Winery, The Ridge Winery, Stream Cliff Farm Winery, the Thomas Family Winery and recent addition, Holtkamp Winery and Vineyards in Dearborn County.

Jesus Christ Superstar: The Motherlodge Arts Exchange, a touring group of performers, will bring the music of Jesus Christ Superstar back to the Red Bicycle Hall at 8 p.m. April 15. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the band Yapa will open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $30.



EXHIBITS

15th Annual Student Art Exhibit: Will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 20 at the Jefferson County Historical Society with an open house and reception.

Gigi Straub: An exhibition of artwork by Gigi Straub will be on display during April at the Thomas Family Winery.

Floyd County Crit Club: Will have items on display in the front of the Madison Art Club’s Art on Main Gallery, 309 W. Main St., as part of its 37th annual member art show from April 1-30. Regular gallery hours for Art on Main Gallery, 309 W. Main St., are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Art of Healing: Selections from 17 regional artists were chosen by a three-panel committee to bring artwork to the Seasons Cafe of King’s Daughters’ Hospital. The quarterly exhibit runs from April 3 to July 2. Artists selected for the rotation include John Benzing, Nancy Dornbusch, Natalie Gray, Stacy Hardesty-Gray,. Brenda Holbrook,. Sandy King, Lou Knoble, Richard Leep, Belva Lowry, Cyndi Myers, Edgar Polley, Dottie Shepherd, Alice Jane Smith, Barbara Tompary, Carole Williams, Lillie Wingham and Linda Wood. Singin’ in the Rain: The Ohio Theatre will screen the 1952 musical “Singin’ in the Rain” at 7 p.m. April 15. Tickets are $5.

The Fate of the Furious (PG13): When a mysterious woman seduces Dom into the world of terrorism and a betrayal of those closest to him, the crew face trials that will test them as never before. The eighth installment in the Fast and the Furious series stars Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson.

Smurfs - The Lost Village (PG): A mysterious map sets Smurfette and her friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest leading to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history. The film features the voices of Ariel Winter, Michelle Rodriguez and Joe Manganiello.

Ghost in the Shell (PG13): In the near future, Major is the first of her kind. A human saved her from a terrible crash and she is now cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. The film stars Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek and Takeish Kitano. The film is a live-action remake of the anime by the same name.

The Boss Baby (PG): A suit-wearing briefcase-carrying baby pairs up with his seven-year-old brother to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co. The film features the voices of Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi and Jimmy Kimmel.

Power Rangers (PG13): High school outcasts stumble upon an old alien ship, where they acquire superpowers and are dubbed the Power Rangers. Learning that an old enemy of the previous generation has returned to exact vengeance, the group must harness their powers and use them to work together and save the world.

Beauty and the Beast (PG): Disney’s animated classic takes on a new form. A young prince, imprisoned in the form of a beast, can be freed only by true love. What may be his only opportunity arrives when he meets Belle, the only human girl to ever visit the castle since it was enchanted. The film stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad and Kevin Kline.

Kong - Skull Island (PG13): A team of explorers and soldiers travel to an uncharted island in the Pacific, unaware that they are crossing into the domain of monsters, including the mythic Kong. The film stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson.
