The Music of James Stanley: The Madison Performing Arts Foundation presents local organist and choir director James Stanley Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church. Stanley will lead a small vocal ensemble in several of his original compositions.
Violin Virtuosi: The Hanover College Community Arts Series will present Violin Virtuosi at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in Fitzgibbon Recital Hall in Lynn Center for Fine Arts. Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for youths. Tickets will be $15 if purchased on the day of the show. The World Comes to Madison: The Seifert-Short Museum and Learning Center, 113 E. Third St., will display nativities and crèches from around the world during the holiday season. The museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in December and January. Free admission.
Artist Reception: Susan and Warren McEuen will share photos from their recent trip to South Korea with stops in Japan and China Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Public Library.
Lou Knoble: Paintings from the 1960s and 1970s by local artist Lou Knoble will be on display during January in the front showroom at Art on Main, 309 W. Main St. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Wreck-It Ralph (PG): A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives. The animated movie stars the voice talents of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Alan Tudyk and Jane Lynch.
Skyfall (PG13): In the newest James Bond film, Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the treat, no matter how personal the cost. The film stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and Naomie Harris.

Gangster Squad (R): No names. No badges. No mercy. Follow the Los Angeles Police Department's fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of their city in the 1940s and 1950s. The film stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
Zero Dark Thirty (R): The chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States culminates in his death at the hands of Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May 2011.
Texas Chainsaw (R): A young woman travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter with a chainsaw-wielding killer is part of the reward.
Parental Guidance (PG): Artie and Diane agree to look after their three grandkids when their type-A parents need to leave town for work. Problems arise when the kids' 21st-century behavior collides with Artie and Diane's old-school methods. The film stars Billy Crystal, Bette Midler and Marisa Tomei.
Jack Reacher (PG13): A homicide investigator digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper who shot five random victims. The film stars Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike and Richard Jenkins.
The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (PG13): A curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a group of Dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug. The film stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage.
