Bridge Project Update - March 20, 2013
Wednesday, March 20, 2013 11:00 AM
Here's what's happening this week on the Madison-Milton bridge project:
Crews continue placing deck forms and rebar on the new truss in preparation for the first concrete deck pour which is expected in the coming weeks.
Work is progressing on the transition spans on both sides of the river.
For the third consecutive year, falcons have produced eggs in the nesting box on the bridge. The eggs are expected to hatch sometime in mid-April.
Work continues on detailing the barge impact frames at pier three as workers keep an eye on rising river levels.
Scour protection work continues at pier 4. (Scour is caused by swiftly moving water past the piers and can cause erosion.)
Crews continue installing an inspection access walkway on the new truss.
