Contested races in Carroll County

Voters in Carroll County will have choices to make while casting ballots for several contested races in local elections next week.
Carroll County Clerk Alice Marsh said voters will need to take a driver's license with the correct address or another form of identification that will prove a person's correct address, such as a bill, when they go to the polls to vote. Precinct centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at several locations.
Voters in Precinct 1 can vote at the county garage in Prestonville at 27 Bridge St.; Precinct 2 will be at the Westside Fire Department, 680 Carlisle St. in Prestonville; and residents in Precinct 3 can vote at the Carroll County Public Library, 136 Court St. in Carrollton.
Residents living in Precinct 4 and Precinct 5 can vote at Carrollton City Hall, 750 Clay St. Unlike last year, all voting equipment will be in the council chamber, and both precincts will vote in the same room. The room will be split down the center to designate a difference between the precincts, Marsh said.
Residents in Precinct 6 can vote in the Masonic Lodge, 207 Marwill Drive, while voters from Precinct 7 can vote at Worthville Town Hall, 445 KY 467 in Worthville. Precinct 8 is at the Worthville Fire Department at 446 KY 467, while voters in Precinct 9 can vote at the Sanders Fire Department, 38 Main St. in Sanders. Precinct 10 residents will vote at the Ghent Fire Department, 402 Union St., while voters in Precinct 11 can vote at the Airport Road Fire Department, 200 Ladder Lane.
Area residents will elect representatives to the Carrollton City Council, Prestonville City Commission, Worthville City Commission, Sanders City Commission and seats on the Carroll County Schools Board of Education.
Candidates on the ballot for the Carrollton City Council are Tammy McBurney, Hayley Franklin, Kevin Craig, Dwight Louden, Robb Adams, Mike Gordon, Ann Deatherage and Roy McAllister.
Craig, Adams, Gordon and Deatherage are running for re-election to the City Council, while former Carrollton Mayor Louden, McBurney, Franklin and McAllister are challenging the incumbents. Voters will chose six of the eight candidates to represent them on the City Council.
Candidates for the Prestonville City Commission are Billy Walker, Robert Dixon, Thelma L. Dixon, Rae Stevens, William Martin and Linda Kelly Clark.
Voters will choose four people to represent Prestonville from the list of six candidates.
Candidates vying for the Worthville City Commission are Janie M. Thomas, Katie Mefford, Candy Dempsey, Sabrina Patten and Nancy Hilton.
Voters will choose four representatives from the list of five candidates.
Candidates running for the Sanders City Commission are Harold Wright, Bobby Abercrombie, Tanya Dermon and David Crawford. All four candidates are running unopposed.
Two candidates are unopposed for district seats on the Carroll County Board of Education. Mona G. Kindoll is seeking re-election to District 2, while Rob Spenneberg is seeking election in District 3.
No one filed to run for the school board in District 1. The current District 1 representative, Tommy Unker, announced his decision not to seek re-election earlier this year.
