Many local trick-or-treaters will have to wait until after Halloween to go in search of candy, and other Courierarea events will be indoors because of the possibility of severe weather.

The city of Madison and town of Hanover have rescheduled their trick-or-treat hours to Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. because of rain in the forecast on Thursday night.

Also because of the forecast, Madison's annual Red, White and Boo! will be held inside the Brown Gymnasium on Broadway from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. The event will feature games and candy for children from local businesses and organizations. Music and a costume contest will also be part of the activities during the event.

North United Methodist Church's "Trunk-or-Treat" also has been rescheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Carrollton Police Chief Michael Willhoite said the City of Carrollton will hold trick-or-treat hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office said other cities in Carroll County will postpone trick-or-treat hours on Thursday and reschedule for Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Trimble County also will reschedule trick-or-treat hours for Monday, the sheriff's office said. The cities of Bedford and Milton will hold trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the area.
