Sauer seeks county auditor seat

Democrat Kathryn Havens Sauer has announced her candidacy for Jefferson County Auditor.
Sauer is a resident of Madison and is married to Cris Sauer.
Sauer's work experience includes: Owner-manager of Suburban Orthotics Services in Louisville; executive assistant at Macmillan Publishing in Indianapolis; executive assistant and trade show planner at Klipsch, LLC in Indianapolis and current owner-bookkeeper of Crikat17, Inc. (Shipley's and Miller's Taverns.)
"As a business owner, I frequently interact with local and state government offices. Bringing my financial and business skills to the Auditor's Office will directly benefit Jefferson County residents," Sauer said in a news release.
"These business experiences ensure that I will operate the Auditor's Office in a professional manner, with an eye for reducing costs, and emphasis on customer service to local taxpayers." Sauer said in a release.
Sauer also has been active in Phi Beta Psi National Sorority supporting cancer research. She is president of the Madison Chapter and is Indiana second vice president and scholarship chair.
Sauer currently serves as treasurer of the Indiana Federation of Democratic Women. Additionally, she is a member of the Jefferson County Democratic Women's Club and serves on the Democratic Headquarters Fundraising Board annually.
Sauer graduated from Jeffersonville High School and attended Indiana University/Purdue University. She has one daughter, Meghan Rubenstein Dankenbring, of Austin, Texas, and one step-son, Wes Sauer, of Madison. The Sauers also have one granddaughter, Emma Sauer.
