EARLY VOTERS: The political process was up and running before the sun came up today as voters headed to the polls as soon as they opened at 6 a.m. In the first hour, poll workers at the American Legion hosted 51 voters – a marked increase from past years. After working polls for the past 10 years , Mary Jo Jankosky is well-versed in the process like many of her co-workers at this location. Mary Distel, who said she grew up in a family that was always engaged in the political process, said she’s been working polls in Jefferson County since 1976. “I still believe in the political process,” she said. “For now.” Voters must present a photo ID or passport to be able to vote.
