A free musical featuring the history and concepts of calculus will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hanover College.

"Calculus: The Musical!" will be performed at Fitzgibbon Recital Hall in the Lynn Center for Fine Arts. It is being presented by Know Theatre of Cincinnati.

The show looks at calculus concepts such as limits, integration and differentiation through a musical parody of light opera to hip-hop. The show also features high points of calculus' history, a Hanover College press release said.

The performance includes musical tributes to the Beatles, Madonna and Eminem, while bringing an educational lesson to life. The performance was written and composed by Marc Gutman and Sadie Bowman.

"Calculus: The Musical!" was first performed in 2006 at the Minnesota Fringe Festival and began its run of performances at high schools, colleges and conferences across the United States.

The performance is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required, but they are encouraged. Contact Rusty Jones at jonesj14@hanover.edu for more information or to make reservations.
