Emergency personnel responded to Scenic Drive on the Hanover College campus Monday night after a car struck a tree. James Shireman, a 21-year-old student at the school, lost control of his car and crashed into the tree, Hanover police said. Shireman suffered a broken elbow, Chief Ron Kroger said. Alex Braddy, 19, who was in the passenger seat, was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extracted. Kroger said Braddy had a broken femur. Both men were flown to University Hospital in Louisville. A third passenger in the back seat was not injured. Speed was considered a factor in the crash. "They lost control in a curve, running off the road and hitting a tree," Kroger said.
