Applications sought for Shop With A Firefighter
Saturday, November 02, 2013 5:00 AM
Applications are now being sought for the annual Shop With A Firefighter program, which is sponsored by local fire companies and departments.
Applications are available on Fridays at the Madison Township Fire Department; at the North Madison #5 Fire Company's chili supper from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, and at Ryker's Ridge Fire Company on Nov. 9 during their fish fry.
Robert Black, Madison Township Fire Department chief, said last year the departments were able to raise enough money to provide clothes and toys for 100 children, a goal they hope to match this year.
"Funds are down a little bit this year at this point, but we hope to be able to meet that goal by the time we go shopping," Black said.
Any children who participated in the program last year or who are participating in any similar programs this year are not eligible.
Anyone with questions can contact the Madison Township Fire Department at (812) 273-4100, Black at (812) 599-2408 or Kim Washer at (812) 599-6635.
