The former downtown King's Daughters' Hospital building has transferred to new ownership today a little more than a month after King's Daughters' Health opened a new hilltop facility.
Trilogy Health Services LLC, of Louisville, reached an agreement earlier this year to purchase the former hospital building for $1. King's Daughters' Health officials and Trilogy Health Services officials announced the decision January 25.
Trilogy plans to begin a $3 million to $4 million renovation of the building to convert the space into a senior living facility. Trilogy officials expect the facility to add around 120 full-time jobs in Madison.
Trilogy President and CEO Randy Bufford expects the center to have about 50 skilled-nursing rooms, 30 assisted living spaces and 16 independent-living apartments on the fourth floor of the building. Most of the rooms will be private in the new location, he said in January. Specific floor plans for the facility have not yet been unveiled for the project.
The new senior-living facility, which has not yet been named, is expected to open in early 2014. The community will join the nearly 75 senior-living centers Trilogy owns throughout Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana - including the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.
