A small stretch of State Road 256 west of Kent will be closed Wednesday for pipe replacement work.

The project, weather permitting, will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The road will be closed from County Road 1000-W to County Road 1233-W, which is about 2.7 miles.

Greg Prince, spokesman for INDOT, said the construction is part of a larger rehabilitation pipe project in order to prepare the road for chip-and-seal work planned for the summer.
