Salvation Army to offer disaster training

The Salvation Army of Jefferson County will host an all-day disaster training seminar at its downtown office May 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is free.
The training is required for anyone who wishes to volunteer during Salvation Army emergency response events.
The course also is meant for individuals, civic groups, church groups and others who would like to assist in times of need or want to know where their services can best be utilized during times of disaster.
The training will aim at developing disaster responders' skills and knowledge, better preparing them to respond to disasters in a prompt, efficient and effective manner.
The course will be taught by Jerry Larsen, director of Emergency Disaster Services.
Class size is limited and a mid-day meal will be provided. Reservations for the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Training can be made by calling the Salvation Army office at (812) 265-2157.
