The school district still has 11 days to make up after using a built-in make-up day on Feb. 17.
Under the plan, MCS will use waivers offered by the Indiana Department of Education for snow days on Jan. 6 and 7. Students also will attend class from March 31 to April 4, which is a week of built-in snow make-up days added to the end of spring break.
The school also chose to extend the school day by one hour for three weeks from March 10 - 14, March 17 - 21 and March 31 to April 9. The option to add time to an instructional day was announced by the IDOE earlier this month.
The addition of one hour to those school days is the equivalent to three snow make-up days.
The school also will request a waiver for April 18, which would be turned into an eLearning day.
"While there are no perfect solutions, student learning was our first and foremost concern as we considered all of the feedback and options," a district press release said.
The plan will allow MCS to keep graduation scheduled for June 1 and any predetermined military enlistment and college entrance dates to be maintained.
