Bridge Update - December 12, 2012
Wednesday, December 12, 2012 10:00 AM
Here's a brief look at construction activity expected this week on the Madison-Milton bridge project.
Road improvements in downtown Milton are scheduled to wrap up this week. The more clearly defined entrance to Coopers Bottom Road and added curb and guttering are expected to improve traffic flow and drainage in the area. Work continues on the new curb and guttering in front of the BP station and convenience store.
Concrete pours are expected in the coming week on both the Milton and Madison approach spans.
Truss span 4 - on the Madison side - is expected to be completed within the next week.
Truss span 1 - on the Milton side - is complete, though workers will continue bolting up connections.
Preparations are under way to add timber mats to the transition spans connecting the new downstream truss to the new approach span construction.
Work will resume on installation of the remaining barge impact frames as water levels allow.
