Bridge Update - February 23, 2013
Saturday, February 23, 2013 4:00 AM
Here's what's happening on the Milton-Madison Bridge Project:
Work on the permanent approaches is nearing completion on both sides of the river.
Deck forms are being placed on the new truss, one of the first steps in preparation for the concrete deck pour this spring.
The bolt up of spans 1 and 4 continues and is expected to be complete by the end of next week.
Crews are installing an inspection access walkway on the new truss.
Boulders are being placed at the base of the piers as part of ongoing scour protection work. (Scour is caused by swiftly moving water past the piers and can cause erosion.)
Work is under way on the barge impact frames.
