Stephens to stay at MSH

Dr. Peggy Stephens, who earlier this month announced she would be leaving Madison State Hospital where she was superintendent and medical director, has had a change of heart and now plans to stay in Madison.
Stephens was hired to oversee the opening of a 239-bed psychiatric facility, located on the University of Kentucky's Coldstream Research Campus in Lexington. The 300,000-square-foot facility will provide recovery-focused inpatient psychiatric treatment.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Stephens said in an interview Wednesday that she simply decided she did not want to leave Madison State Hospital, where she has been since 2005.
"It was totally the loyalty and my heartstrings for my current hospital," she told the Lexington paper.
Stephens is a former faculty member of Harvard University Medical School and is past president of the Kentucky Medical Psychiatric Association.
