Child on bicycle hit by truck
Friday, July 18, 2014 11:00 AM
A 14-year-old girl was hit by a car Thursday, while riding her bicycle.
Gretchen Andreasen, of Madison, was riding her bike northbound through the intersection of Papermill and Dawson Smith roads when she was struck by a pickup truck driven by Anthony Floyd, 40, of Bedford. The incident occurred just before 4 p.m.
She was airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville with a laceration to her forehead.
Jefferson County Sheriff John Wallace said Floyd was westbound on Dawson Smith Road when the girl traveled through the intersection.
The girl is the second person this week to be hit by a vehicle in the Madison area.
On Tuesday, 18-year-old Jesse Watterson was struck by a gold colored SUV near the intersection of West Village and Skyline drives. The driver of the SUV fled the scene.
The hit-and-run incident is still under investigation by the Madison police department.
