Female robber hits MainSource
Wednesday, July 02, 2014 11:00 AM
Suspect in MainSource Bank robbery.
Police are searching for a female bank robber who escaped with about $1,500 Tuesday from a MainSource Bank.
The suspect - a white woman around 40 years old - entered the MainSource Bank in the 400 block of Jefferson Street at 4 p.m. and asked about opening a new account, according to Police Chief Dan Thurston.
After the teller produced the information, the woman passed a note across the counter stating that she was robbing the bank and to "make it quick," Thurston said.
The teller handed over about $1,500 in $100 and $50 bills. Patrolman Jacob Schmidt was the first officer to arrive on the scene. He, along with Detective Lt. Ty Eblen, Sgt. Derk Napier and several other patrolmen canvassed the area and spoke to witnesses. None of the witness recognized the woman.
Anyone with information should call Eblen or Schmidt at (812) 265-3347.
