Alison Frazier announced today she will seek re-election as judge of the Jefferson County Superior Court.

Frazier, a Republican, was elected to the bench in 2008. She spent more than 20 years in public and private practice, including time as a clerk for two members of the Indiana Court of Appeals.

She said she hopes to continue the trend of her first term as judge and help to lead the fight against drug abuse.

"During my first campaign, I pledged to aggressively protect our community by addressing the revolving door of drug addiction plaguing Jefferson County," Frazier said in a news release announcing her re-election bid.

"Today, I am proud to report that we have established a Drug Court that is assisting non-violent substance offenders in their transformation into productive members of our community."

Frazier also prides herself on helping to obtain state funding and local approval for the launching of the Jefferson County Community Corrections Department, an advisory board, which launched in 2011. She has been a supporter of that program, she said, because it saves the taxpayers money.

"I have a commitment to both the justice system and taxpayers," Frazier said in the release. "We must work to guarantee that justice is administered fairly while also balancing the economic burden felt by taxpayers."

Frazier lives in Dupont with her three sons.
