Man arrested after drugs found in car

Sheriff's deputies made an arrest after finding marijuana and methamphetamine in a car early Saturday morning.
Joshua L. Mahoney, 19, of Madison, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine after his car was searched around 12:50 a.m. Saturday.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle report on K Road. The vehicle was parked on the side of the road, according to the sheriff's report.
"Upon approach, deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the passenger compartment of the vehicle," the report said.
Mahoney was taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await his initial court appearance.
