Mobile meth lab discovered in car
Wednesday, November 14, 2012 10:00 AM
Sheriff's deputies arrested three people Tuesday in connection with a mobile methamphetamine lab found during an investigation.
Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle that had been sitting in a parking lot at the west junction of state roads 56 and 62.
Upon responding to the scene, one of the occupants of the vehicle, Israel Richardson, 40, of North Vernon, fled officers on foot. Police chased Richardson and eventually used a Taser to stop him, Sheriff John Wallace said.
Police said Richardson gave officers false identification at the scene. They later learned that he had outstanding warrants in Indiana and Kentucky, Wallace said.
Drug dogs indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, Wallace said, and a search resulted in police finding an active meth lab in the car.
The other two occupants in the car were Angela S. Hibbard, 34, of Madison, and Joseph Turner, 37, of Hanover.
All three were arrested on charges of manufacturing meth, a Class B felony, and possession of meth, a Class D felony. Police said Richardson will likely face additional charges of fleeing police and false informing.
The sheriff's department was assisted at the scene by the Hanover Police Department, Madison Police Department and Indiana State Police.
