Wrong property tax bills sent out
Tuesday, April 09, 2013 11:00 AM
The Jefferson County treasurer's office accidently sent out incorrect property tax bills last week.
Jefferson County Treasurer Linda Greene said a printing error led to last year's tax bills being reprinted and mailed out Friday.
Greene said the correct bills will be sent out in the next three to five days. The incorrect bills are printed on blue paper and need to be destroyed, Green said. The correct bills will be printed on yellow paper.
The due date for the bill is still May 10.
Exactly how many incorrect mailings were sent and what was the cost of that mailing to the taxpayers of Jefferson County? Who is accountable for that wasted expenditure? Where are the relevant facts? Why isn't anyone asking?
