Madison police arrested two people Monday after a car was wrongfully repossessed.
Julia A. Gorrell, 51, of Madison, called police after her 1992 Chevrolet Astro van was taken by someone in a maroon tow truck, Chief Dan Thurston said.
Authorities found the tow truck, which was being driven by David W. Orrill, 54, of Lexington. Thurston said the vehicle identification number on the car did not match the vehicle that Orrill was supposed to repossess.
Police said Orrill had attempted to hot-wire the car to get the vehicle to start. Orrill was arrested on a charge of auto theft, a Class D felony.
Upon further investigation, police learned that Gorrell had a warrant for her arrest for check deception. She was also arrested.
