Carroll County man arrested for assault

A Worthville man was arrested following a complaint that he kicked and spanked his 7-year-old daughter, leaving marks on the child.
Carroll County Deputy Sheriff Clay Cable responded to a call on April 6 from the child's mother regarding an abuse allegation. The mother reported that she had picked up her three children from their father's home after a visit during spring break. She heard the children talking in the back seat about one of the children being kicked and hit on the evening of April 5, a release said.
After returning home, the child's mother found bruising and marks on the child. She called law enforcement to report the abuse and social services was contacted, the release said.
The father, 33, of Worthville, was arrested April 9 for assault in the fourth degree for child abuse, a Class A misdemeanor. He was lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center after the arrest.
